A 40-year-old fugitive went on a crime spree on Sunday in Miami-Dade County and he was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
Antoine Carr Acosta stabbed a man and stole a special transportation service car from a woman in Homestead, police said. Police officers chased him on the Florida Turnpike until he crashed at Florida International University, police said.
Acosta stabbed a man during a drug deal near the intersection of North Krome Avenue and Northeast 12th Street in Homestead, according to Capt. Fernando Morales, a spokesman for the Homestead Police Department.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel airlifted the victim to Jackson South Trauma Center. He was in critical condition, according to Morales. There weren’t any passengers inside the stolen car and no one was injured in the crash at University Park.
Acosta is facing charges of grand theft, fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving, resisting an officer without violence, driving with a suspended license, and criminal mischief.
