We have learned Houston has its first case of monkeypox.
The city’s health department confirmed it Saturday.
They say the person started to develop symptoms after traveling internationally.
The health department says they did not need to be hospitalized and are isolated at home.
Epidemiologists will be reaching out to those who had close contact with the individual.
Monkeypox typically begins as a flu-like illness with a fever and chills.
And after one to three days a rash develops -- often beginning on the face and then spreading to other parts of the body.
