This weekly wrap newsletter from our KPRC2 Investigates team may look a little different this week. We don’t have to tell you, the past week is one we will never forget. The tragedy in Uvalde is just heartbreaking. And, when it seems like there are no words... we try to write them.

As journalists, it’s our job to meet face to face with those impacted, and bring you the latest developments of these life-shattering events. We are honored to do this.

Within just hours of the events unfolding in Uvalde, members of our Investigates team were on the road. Investigative Executive Producer Ana Lastra has been leading the team on the ground alongside Investigator Robert Arnold, Anchors Keith Garvin and Daniella Guzman, and many others. The team is working in tandem with KPRC2 reporters in Houston.

Some of the stories our team is working on include:

Of course, this is a story that is still developing and we will continue to bring you the most important news on this tragedy. Our hearts break for the lives lost and we can only hope what we do truly makes a difference.

We’d like to share other stories our team is working on this week.

On Monday morning, the runoff race in Harris County’s Precinct 4 heated up less than 24 hours before the opening of the polls with claims of racism. Investigator Mario Diaz looks into claims someone doctored an image of one of the candidates.

We tell you every day that prices for just about everything are up. That includes building materials for a new home. It’s one thing to agree to pay the higher costs, but a lot of new home buyers are telling Investigator Amy Davis that builders are demanding more money for homes after they’ve locked in the price and signed a contract. Amy looks into why this is this is happening.

We truly hope you get to spend this Memorial Day weekend with the people you love. If you have a problem you need help with, let us know! Send us your news tips here.
