This month, KPRC 2 Investigates looked back at how the city, county and state worked to rebuild a more resilient infrastructure. We also visited Rockport to see how they’re doing after the hurricane.
As Hurricane Harvey barreled toward Texas, do you remember that familiar anxious feeling? Or when you realized what happened to so many of us was an absolute catastrophe? Government leaders spent hundreds of millions of public funds to rebuild in the five years since Hurricane Harvey.
However, the spending is not done. Why? Now KPRC 2 Investigator Joel Eisenbaum looks into what went right and wrong with the assistance programs.

The liaison officer between Mayor Sylvester Turner’s office and City Council, who pled guilty to a federal conspiracy charge involving cash bribes from a bar owner, appears to have previously worked to help other private businesses on deals against the best interest of the City of Houston, according to emails obtained by KPRC 2 Investigates. Mario Diaz has the latest on this investigation he’s been working on for years.
