Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and other local leaders will address the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s recent announcement that it will investigate the Texas Commission on Environment Quality (TCEQ)’s concrete batch permitting criteria and processes under federal civil rights laws.
A news conference is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. KPRC 2 will carry a livestream of the event.
The EPA initiated the investigation in response to complaints submitted by the Harris County Attorney’s Office and Lone Star Legal Aid under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Other leaders expected to join the news conference include Harris County commissioners Adrian Garcia and Rodney Ellis, lawyers from Lone Star Legal Aid, and members of the Texas Legislature.
