A driver was arrested after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through multiple counties. In the process, multiple law enforcement vehicles were damaged, and one deputy suffered a minor injury.
According to a spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the chase began in Austin County when Sealy Police tried to stop a robbery suspect who was driving a stolen vehicle Tuesday evening.
When the driver entered Waller County, Texas DPS began assisting in the chase with air and ground support. The pursuit, which at times reached speeds of 100 miles per hour, entered Harris County before moving into Montgomery County.
At one point, a Montgomery County law enforcement vehicle and a Texas DPS unit collided, resulting in a deputy suffering a minor leg injury.
Officers used a pit maneuver to finally bring an end to the vehicle pursuit in a restaurant parking lot in the area of Interstate 45 and Shenandoah Parkway. A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office patrol car and a Waller County law enforcement vehicle were damaged in the process of pinning the suspect’s vehicle against a light pole.
The suspect reportedly tried to run on foot, but officers were able to catch up and make the arrest.
The suspect’s identity and exact charges that will be filed are not yet known.
