An investigation is underway after a crash that left one man dead and three teens injured in Katy Tuesday, Harris County sheriff’s deputies said.
It happened in the 1800 block of Fry Road around 9:30 p.m.
According to HCSO, Community and Westlake fire departments responded to reports of a crash with a party trapped inside a vehicle. When officials arrived, they discovered there had been a three-vehicle crash.
Deputies said a man was pronounced dead at the scene and three teens were transported to the hospital.
Investigators said a silver sedan traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into a Honda minivan while making a left from a nearby McDonald’s. The minivan was attempting to cross southbound lanes when the silver sedan struck it, causing it to drift into northbound lanes and be struck by a Dodge Challenger.
HCSO traffic units were at the scene and a DWI investigation is ongoing.
Witnesses told deputies the three teens inside the silver sedan were likely high on marijuana, as the vehicle smelled like smoke.
