Brush fires are leading to smoky conditions in some parts of Broward County on Thursday.
According to David Rosenbaum, a spokesman for the Florida Forest Service, lightning ignited the fires around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
He said the fire, known as the 2-Bravo fire, is burning in the conservation area Northwest of Markham Park, just west of the Sawgrass Expressway.
Rosenbaum said the fire is burning in an open area that is not threatening any structure or roadway.
About 220 acres have burned so far.
Rosenbaum said a pilot will be flying over the area at some point Thursday to get a better aerial view and also get an update on how many acres have been burned.
