Hialeah police are investigating a parental abduction involving a 5-year-old girl, who they said was taken by her mother after custody was granted to the child’s father in New York.
According to a news release from the police department, the mother, Kimberly Ramirez, took her daughter, Khloe Isabel Rojas, from her father, who lives in New York last September and brought her to the Miami area.
Police said the father was able to obtain a custody court order from the state of New York, but Ramirez never returned Khloe.
The father traveled to South Florida on April 19 and went to his daughter’s school, the South Florida Autism School at 3751 W. 108th St., but was unable to take his daughter because there was some missing information on his documents, authorities said.
Police said the father returned to the school last Thursday with the corrected documentation, but school employees told him that Khloe and her mother had not been back to the school since he originally came on April 19.
According to the news release, Ramirez has also lived in Orlando, but authorities currently have no leads about the mother and daughter’s whereabouts.
