The executive board of Harmony Public Schools unanimously voted to approve a pay increase for its Houston-area teachers.
Harmony Public Schools teachers in Houston, Cypress, Katy and Sugar Land will receive a $1,000 pay increase in base salary next year, according to a news release. Employees will also receive an additional $500 increase for those with an existing teacher certification.
The move increases the minimum salary for certified Harmony teachers in Greater Houston to $59,000, according to the release.
The pay increases also were approved for teachers working in Dallas-Fort Worth, Beaumont, Bryan and Waco.
