Police in Orlando said they found the bodies of a family of five in what appears to be a murder suicide.
The gruesome discovery was made on Tuesday afternoon while performing a wellness check in the east park neighborhood of Lake Nona.
“I think it’s like a worst nightmare truly,” said Heather Collins, a neighbor.
Police said they found the bodies of three adults and two children, all killed in an apparent murder suicide.
“I don’t even know what happened exactly, like this is just absolutely terrible. My heart goes out to the family. I can’t even begin to wrap my mind around any of this, especially if there were children involved,” said Collins.
Collins and her fiancé Justin Rossilini live across the street from the family involved.
“They seemed like they were a normal family. I seen the dad, seen the mom, seen the son and they had two little girls,” said Rossilini.
Rossilini said the family, a middle aged couple, their adult son and their two young girls had just moved into the home a few months ago. He had not heard or seen any activity at the home for several days until the police arrived.
“When I went to leave, there was an officer who was looking through the car window and asked me if I’d seen them today, I said no, I haven’t seen them for a few days actually. Last time I saw them was 5 days ago when they were checking the mail,” said Rossilini.
“I didn’t hear anything, I wish I did because I definitely would have liked to have been that concerned neighbor that did something in this situation,” said Collins.
Members of the surrounding community were visibly shaken.
Jenny Conliffe wiped tears from her face as she learned of the tragedy.
“I’m a nurse so, I don’t know them but we are very close here. We don’t have crimes. We don’t have break-ins, we don’t have nothing,” said Conliffe.
The neighbors said the situation was like a nightmare.
Police will not release the identities of the family until next of kin is notified.
Investigators have also not released any information about what led to the apparent murder-suicide.
