Disasters and accidents

Lightning and heavy rains have killed at least 36 people across Pakistan in the past three days, mainly farmers in the eastern Punjab province. (NPR)
East Africa is experiencing torrential rains for two weeks. Over 125,000 people are affected in the coastal area by floods. Fifty-eight people have been killed in Tanzania and another 13 people in Kenya. Tanzania announces plans to construct fourteen dams to prevent such disasters in the future. (AP)
