- A Cessna Citation plane traveling from Elizabethton Municipal Airport to Long Island MacArthur Airport turns southwest toward the direction of Washington D.C. miles before landing and becomes unresponsive. An F-16 jet from Joint Base Andrews attempts to intercept the Cessna jet at supersonic speed, causing a sonic boom heard around the Washington metropolitan area.
