The American model is notorious for creating strong storms that usually disappear as we get closer to the date. Here is the forecast for Thursday May 26th. Notice the contrast from the European model to the GFS (American), which has a much weaker system that gets stuck in the Bay of Campeche. While it is very rare for a strong storm (a la hurricane) to form in May, the American model has been consistent with attempting to drum up something mid-week next week. We’ll continue to monitor this possible development, as of right now, there is no need to worry.
