I can't believe it. There's this narrative that Brazil is the "blackest country outside of Africa" that has been talked about a lot. Gringos think "pardo" (brown) means black, it doesn't. It's anyone who doesn't look black or white. And the white population is not 47%, I'd say it's around 20%. Most of the "white" population I'm Brazil has significant indigenous ancestry.
I'm sick and tired of dumbfucks trying to erase indigenous from culture. It's true that the average Brazilian has 60% european,25% african, and 15% indian ancestry. But this isn't accurate for mixed race people. This is due to genetic swamping, there are very few Brazilians with mostly native dna compared to europeans and africans. So I'd bet the average mixed race person has the same amount of native admixture as african, or even more in many cases. And it varies by regions. South is predominantly white, and the north is "indio" (indian) mixed. People from that region would be mistaken as Mexican in USA.
Adriana Lima seems to have mainly iberian and native roots, don't know why she apparently identifies as "afro-brazilian"
