Walmart is now apologizing for selling ice cream to commemorate Juneteenth.
The retail giant sold the “Celebration Edition: Juneteenth Ice Cream” under its label, great value. The release of the red velvet flavored ice cream created heated conversations on social media.
Along with the ice cream, other Juneteenth- themed items for sale at Walmart including party plates.
President Joe Biden recognized Juneteenth, June 19, as the United States’ second independence day and a federal holiday. The holiday marks the day a major general of the Union Army arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation and free the last enslaved Americans in Texas.
