New details are emerging about a deadly boat crash off the coast of Key Biscayne that left two people dead and nearly a dozen others hurt.

Both of those damaged boats were ultimately pulled from the water at Crandon Marina.

One of the boats was significantly larger than the other.

One was a 30-foot vessel and the other just more than 20 feet.

Three days after the fatal boat crash off the waters of Key Biscayne Yacht Club, the investigation continues.

Authorities are looking into what led up to the wreck on the water between two boats that resulted in two people losing their lives.

Sources tell Local 10 News the captain of the 30-foot antique boat had just left the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club with passengers. He believes he was in the right of way when he hit the other open fisherman, causing several aboard that boat to be thrown in the water.

Investigators said it all happened around 10:30 p.m. Friday.

A witness who spoke with Local 10 News’ Roy Ramos described how he watched as one boat overturned and the other began sinking. He said as he called 911 he could hear screams.

With the concern of the passengers aboard his boat as well, he did what he could to help

“We saw a lady holding an infant and then we saw a girl who couldn’t swim so we threw some life jackets,” said witness Xavier Ruiz.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the larger boat was carrying seven people and there were five aboard the 20-foot Cobia open fisherman that had damages to its haul.

In total 10 people, which included children just 12 and 13 years old, were injured.

The U.S. Coast Guard and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived to find people thrown from their vessel who were taken to area hospitals. Two of them would ultimately die as a result of their injuries.

The two people killed in the crash have been identified as 80-year-old Pablo Castro Diaz and 42-year-old Osvado Castro. They were both aboard the same boat.
