i remember reading this reddit post on r/antiwork
the OP's boss is like "yo we got a surprise for you on thursday for working overtime for a whole month. youll be really happy"
OP went in and it was a slice of pizza

you do realize this has been the case for millennias
back then people were just ok with it because their job is niche and without them the town would die so they have pride in their job. modern day job is braindead work they can replace you with a 16 year old even most white collar jobs so it feels like shit

actually i have to backtrack. back then they dont do it for their masters. they do it for nature and death
the development of landlords and noblemen made it feel like shit but even then farmers could cope with "i feed the country"
now you are stuck in a 4 ft square coop frying aborted baby patties

you can still get into farming but it's pretty price intensive
