A Central Florida grandmother said she looked into the eyes of a stranger who walked into her home, then was forced to grabbed her gun to protect herself.
Virginia Morrison, 69, said she hit the man in the face with a broom, while her roommate Charlie, and 80-year-old man, grabbed his gun and shot at the ground.
When the intruder went outside, she grabbed her gun and went to her backyard.
“I feel bad that it happened but I was trying to protect me and Charlie. Somebody is going down. It’s either going to be me or somebody else,” said Morrison.
Morrison said the man kept walking toward her outside, never saying a word. She said she fired a warning shot, but he kept taking steps.
“He got about three feet away from the fence and I just lowered the gun and hit him right here. Evidently I hit his arterial artery,” said Morrison.
Orange County deputies were called Morrison’s home on a burglary in process call. Deputies said the man, in his 30s, later died at the hospital.
Deputies said the case will be sent to the state attorney’s office, which will determine if charges will be filed.
