- EU natural gas price cap
- European Union member states agree to a natural gas price cap in an attempt to limit the damage of global energy crisis. The price cap can be triggered starting from 15 February 2023 if for three days, prices on the TTF - the European natural gas benchmark - exceed 180 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh) while also being €35/MWh higher than a reference price based on liquefied natural gas (LNG) price assessments. - The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom rules that the plan of the British government to send asylum seekers to Rwanda while their application is ongoing is lawful. (CNN)
- Authorities in Kyrgyzstan reject the suggestion to allow medical examination of dozens of jailed activists on hunger strike. The activists' health, in prison for protesting a border agreement with Uzbekistan, has "dramatically worsened" according to the government. (RFE/RL)
