A Theory on Japan’s and South Korea’s Longevity — Hierarchy and Depression

I won’t be discussing diet, like I usually do, in this thread but rather hierarchy.

In Japan and SK, elders are usually held highly in the culture’s social hierarchy. I think the amount of respect/value that comes from being on said place in the hierarchy possibly mitigates the typical elderly depression and thus lifespan.
