News 2-alarm apartment fire damages 8 units in SE Houston, firefighters say

A total of eight units were damaged after a fire broke out at an apartment complex in southeast Houston early Sunday, according to firefighters with Houston Fire Department.

Firefighters said the 2-alarm fire happened in the 11900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard near East Orem Drive shortly after midnight.

According to Jared Reeves, District Chief for HFD, the fire broke out from an attic in one of the apartment units.

Reeves said the Red Cross was dispatched to help the families who were affected by the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
